Notes: This Martin D-35 is a beautiful 50 year old 70's Martin. This D-35 has aged like fine wine and is the perfect candidate if you're looking for that mature acoustic tone, with a fully functional and playable guitar. There are no cracks in the wood, as well, the binding is fully intact and has not needed to be repaired. As to the wear on this guitar, there are very minor marks throughout the body. Lets start with the top. The spruce top has checking in the finish showing off its age and there is an overall thinning to the finish. There are only light scratches adorning the top that are only seen by looking across the finish with light. No major indents, just a couple minor indentations. The pick guard has been upgraded from the original black guard, to a tortoise guard. Moving on to the sides, much the same as the top, minor finish wear on the bottom and some throughout the siding. We only see one notable indent on the pick guard side of the guitar. The binding as previously stated is intact and has discoloration from age. The back of the guitar has that beautiful split pattern in the rosewood. There are two minor pen tip sized dings towards the bottom and similar to the top, minor scratches that can be seen by looking across the finish with light. The neck is in excellent condition, it is a soft V neck, straight and only a few minor dents, the more major one on the tip of the headstock. The original tuners got placed back on the guitar, they had been previously swapped by newer identical grover knobs, so there were no new holes created to switch the knobs. Finally the fret board only has two marks. A thin vertical scratch on the first fret under the "A" string and 3 shallow string grooves on the second fret under the "A", "D", and "G" strings. The frets are worn in nicely and very playable. No high frets and the action is sitting at a .10, but there is room to take the saddle down to lower the action.
